One answer: Quality Content. As an internet resource soon to be visited
by millions of families, we want only responsible funeral directors
or their designees to post content on ObituaryTree.com. We will
not risk allowing the wrong person to post the wrong content to
our pages.
Ensuring Quality Content
To ensure the quality of our content, we require a
one-time registration fee for all new sponsors. This $20 fee
is payable via our Paypal portal, or by sending payment to our
postal address. When your registration form and payment are received,
our representatives will conduct an interview with your funeral
home and ensure that you are bona fide.
Full-Service vs. Self-Service
We offer these two types of service because some funeral homes with qualified
staff prefer to quickly post their own obituaries, while others
prefer to send us their obituaries in an email for us to post
within 48 hours (usually within 1 hour, but our lawyer says we
have to say 48).
Self-Service
For funeral homes with staff qualified to:
- post only in the correct state.
- crop one photograph
to 1.5" x 2.0" at 72 dpi and upload the file using
our easy chooser.
- type the "name of deceased, city, d.o.b. - d.o.d." into the
title field.
- type the name of the funeral home into the author's field.
- copy and paste the body (text) of the obituary into the appropriate
field.
These funeral homes will receive access to post obituaries at will, with
no monthly fees whatsoever. Restrictions: Self-Service
accounts may include their funeral home's name, website URL,
business address and contact information at the end of each newly-posted
obituary in un-linked, text-only form. No other images or links
are permitted for free accounts.

Full-Service
Most funeral homes send their obituaries to their local newspaper
via email as an attached document. Most of the time they even
attach a photo to the email. For those funeral homes needing
the convenience of just adding another recipient to these emails,
our Full-Service option makes it that simple.
Our staff will size the photos and post the entire obituary
- including a linked banner ad at the end of each new obituary.

obituaries become portals bringing our visitors to your website.
Fees for this option are based on six dollars ($6) per
obituary, multiplied by your annual average number
of funeral services (N), divided by twelve (12)
months: (6xN)/12. Your credit card or bank account will be charged
in twelve equal payments on a monthly basis. Any overages or
underages will be charged or credited at the end of the year.
