Troy Lee Parker Sr., 1923 - 2006

     Troy Lee Parker Sr., 83, of Idabel passed away Monday, September 25, 2006 at his residence. He was born September 20, 1923 at Idabel, the son of Carol and Corene Dawson Parker. Troy married Johnie Burnett in Idabel on November 29, 1968
     Troy was a retired licensed electrician and welder and was an employee of the Norwood Welch Funeral Home in Idabel for over 25 years. Troy was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army as a marksman. He was a Master Mason, a member of the First Baptist Church Westside and was a lifetime resident of Idabel.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Troy Lee Parker Jr.; and a daughter, Venita Easter.
     Troy is survived by his wife, Johnie of Idabel; sons, Troy Calvin Parker of Oklahoma City, Wilbert Carter III of Oklahoma City, and Johnny Tyrone Carter of Shreveport; daughters and son-in-law, Sheila Carter Nehka of Idabel, Hope and Ronald Wharry of Oklahoma City, and Tracy Edwina Parker of Idabel; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Robert J. Shelton, 1923 - 2006

     Robert J. Shelton, 83, of Broken Bow, passed away September 27, 2006, at his residence. He was born February 23, 1923, in Plainview, AR, the son of Fred and Altha (Johnston) Shelton.
     Robert was a veteran who served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He married Margaret Avery on July 3, 1950 in Mt. Pine, AR. Robert was an electrician and enjoyed seeing things be built. He was a great enjoyer of nature.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Altha Shelton; brothers, Fredrick, Tom, and Kenneth Shelton; and sister, Elizabeth Albright.
     Robert leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Margaret Shelton, Broken Bow; son, Max Shelton and wife Twila, Ada; daughter, Jane Peek and husband Jimmy, Idabel; brothers, Jack Shelton, Amarillo, TX, Ray Shelton, Memphis, TN, Wilson Shelton, Waxahachie, TX, and Jimmy Shelton, Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren, Caleb Shelton and Amanda Shelton, Ada, and Leah Peek and Lauren Peek, Idabel; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
     Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Crown Hill Cemetery, Broken Bow. Joe Voyles will officiate.
     The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2006, at Brumley Funeral Home, Broken Bow.

Melvin “Dude” Austin, 1932 - 2006

     Melvin “Dude” Austin, 74, of Broken Bow, passed away September 25, 2006, at Broken Bow Nursing Home. He was born September 8, 1932, in Wickes, AR, the son of James and Lena (Blanton) Austin.
     He joined the U.S. Navy in June 1951. He was a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Dude was stationed in San Diego, CA; Newport, RI; Key West, FL; Guam, Hawaii, and Japan serving on eight ships. Over his twenty year career he received numerous ribbons and medals. He retired with honor on December 31, 1970.
     Dude was united in marriage to Nora Potts on December 24, 1977 in Broken Bow. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and the American Legion of Wickes, AR.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lena Austin; his sister, Willie Krantz; and his brothers, Henry, Homer, Elbert, Othel, and Olen Austin.
     Dude leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Nora Austin, Broken Bow; one son, Hank Austin and wife Becky, Broken Bow; one step-son, Danny Camp and wife Vickie, Sulphur Springs, TX; one step-daughter, Twila Minter and husband Tom, Swaziland, Africa; grandchildren, Jonathan Minter, Amber Minter, Aaron Camp, Zachary Camp, and Evan Austin; in-laws, P.A. and Pearl Potts; sisters-in-law, Myrna Caplinger, Willa Dean Austin, Jeanette Austin, Joyce Meddock and husband Frank, and Geneva Moydell; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
     Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at Hochatown First Assembly of God, Hochatown, OK. The Rev. Melvin Baker and the Rev. Bernard Escalante will officiate. Interment will follow with full military honors at Hochatown Cemetery.

Ray DeLozier, 1936 - 2006

     Ray DeLozier, 70, of Idabel passed away Sunday, September 24, 2006 at Idabel. He was born July 13, 1936 in McNary, Arizona. He married Clovis Stark at Leggett, California in 1958.
     Ray was a retired logging contractor. He enjoyed prospecting when he lived in Arizona, and was an avid hunter. Ray loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had lived in Idabel since 1970 moving from Arizona.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Emily Mabel James DeLozier.
     Ray is survived by his wife, Clovis; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Carl Donaldson of Ft. Worth, and Karen and Alan Rozell of Idabel; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike DeLozier of Waxahachie, David and Becky DeLozier of Haworth, and Paul and Paula DeLozier of the Goodwater Community; brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Donna DeLozier of Haworth; sisters, Grace Rogers of Buckeye, Arizona, and Mildred Hale of Scottsdale, Arizona; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Glennon Snider, 1923 - 2006

     Glennon Snider, 83, of Broken Bow, passed away September 21, 2006 at Christus St. Michael Hospital, Texarkana. He was born April 9, 1923, in Pollard Community, OK, the son of Henry and Niner (Cox) Snider.
     Glennon was united in marriage to Ruby Compton on August 21, 1943 in Idabel. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He retired from Weyerhaeuser working as a millwright. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his sisters, Verlie Mills, Dorothy Duncan, and Charlene Evans; and brothers, Joe Snider, Columbus Snider, and Charles Snider.
     Glennon leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ruby Snider, of the home; three sons, Glen Snider and Lahoma Whitehead, Haworth, Rick and wife Patti Snider, Edmond, and Jerry and wife Cheryl Snider, Eagletown; grandchildren, Shantel Snider, Nikki and Dennis Soule, Mark and Marla Snider, Stephine Snider, the late Shelby Snider, Carrie and Mark Duren, Shawna and Lee Evans, and Travis Snider; great-grandchildren, Caleb Brooks, T’Anna Tally, Crandle Tally, Ashley Soule, Kaylee Soule, Brooke Soule, Randon Duren, Koty Evans, and Adam Snider; great-great-grandchild, Raylynn Strawn; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Charlene Harley, 1955 - 2006

     Charlene Harley, 51, Idabel, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2006 at her home in Idabel. She was born March 17, 1955 at Talihina, OK the daughter of Charles and Effielene Harley.
     She loved spending time with family and friends, taking her grandchildren to the park and attending family gatherings. She was a member of Bokchito Methodist Church and have lived in the community all of her life.
     She was preceded in death by her son, Kirby Harley; sister, Cynthia Harley; grandparents, Rosa and Tobias Williston; grandmother, Lena Battice and grandfather, Leo Harley.

Donna Louise Gallagher, 1961 - 2006

     Donna Louise Gallagher, 45, of Broken Bow, passed away September 19, 2006 at her residence. She was born April 19, 1961, in Terrell, TX the daughter of Johnny and Faye (Clem) Cunningham.
     Donna enjoyed crafts, sewing, and fishing. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and other family members. She was affiliated with Lighthouse Assembly of God Church.
     She was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Cunningham; and sister, Jane Cunningham.
     Donna leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Faye Scott and husband Charles, Sherwood, OK; two daughters, Danielle Mulkey and Crystal Gallagher, Broken Bow; sister, Helen Jones, Ringold, OK; five grandchildren, Braylee, Cassidy, Tramden, Luke, and Trace; special nephews, Shane and Shannon Cunningham; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Ann Jaquez, 1923 - 2006

     Ann Jaquez, 83, of Broken Bow, passed away Monday, September 18, 2006at Oklahoma City. She was born January 28, 1923 at Broken Bow to Tom and Della Bailey Wilson. She married Joe Jaquez on April 9, 1977 at Reno, Nevada.
     Ann was a beauty operator. She was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. She moved back to Broken Bow from California in 1994.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ted Alexandar; and a brother, Dan Wilson.
     Ann is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 niece; 1 nephew; other relatives and a host of friends.
     Services will be Friday, September 22, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the McGee Chapel at Broken Bow with Rev. Rosa Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the McGee Chapel Cemetery.
     Family will receive friends Thursday, September 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Allen Cusher, 1924 - 2006

     Allen Cusher, 82, of Broken Bow passed away Friday, Septemter 15, 2006 at his residence. He was born May 21, 1924 to Les E. and Sina Wilson Cusher at Beachton, Oklahoma.
     Allen retired from Weyerhaueser where he worked for many years. He was a decorated U. S. Navy veteran who served on the USS Block Island. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He had lived in McCurtain County for the last 70 years.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers.
     He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Laura Carney of Smithville; nieces, Leila Spradlin of Longview, Texas and Linda Barnes of Stinnett, Texas; nephews, Elton Carney and Con Cusher of Smithville; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
     Services will be Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Conley-White Chapel in Broken Bow with Rev. Johnny Shomo officiating. Interment will follow in Denison Cemetery at Idabel.

Bertha L. Bishop, 1911 - 2006

     Bertha L. Bishop, 94, formerly of Arkadelphia, AR died Saturday, September 16, 2006 at Idabel, OK. She was born October 14, 1911 in Arkadelphia, the daughter of David H. & Lydia Dodgens Tarver. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Bishop, her parents, three brothers, and one sister.
     Survivors include three sons, Billy Joe and wife Letha Bishop of Foreman, AR, Bobby Lynn and wife Judy Bishop of Wright City, OK, and Charles Edward and wife Judy Bishop of Mt. Vernon, TX; a niece, Lorene Mitchell, who was just like a daughter, of Midwest City, OK; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; five nieces, and one nephew.
     Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, with Dr. John Small officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles W. Bishop, Kenny Bishop, Bobby Bishop, Terry L. Bishop, Mitchell Bishop, Bill Frazier, Steve Trim, and James Cody.

Gary Nolan Gross, 1951 - 2006

     Gary Nolan Gross passey away on September 15, 2006 in Idabel, Oklahoma. Gary was born December 16, 1951 in Medford, Oregon the son of O.J. Gross and Florence Ellen (Gilman) Gross and has lived in the Ringold community since 1972. Gary married Lisa Dale May 16, 2003 in DeQueen, Arkansas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and collecting knives. He was the Captain of his high school football team. Gary did not have a good weekend if the Cowboys or the Longhorns lost their game. He also loved Blues music. He was preceded in death by his parents.
     His wife Lisa Gross of Ringold, one son Lance Allen Smith of Temple, TX, two stepsons; Russell Dale Pinckard of Ringold, and Ryan Patrick Pinckard of Great Falls, MT, one daughter; Charity Cantrell of Valliant, two step daughters; Brianna Marie Wood of Hill Air Force Base in UT and Elyse Donnelle Pinckard of Rattan, two sisters; Vickie Slabaugh of Wright City and Lori Pace of Idabel, five grandchildren; along with a host of other family and friends.
     Services will be held at the Valliant Cemetery in Valliant, Oklahoma on Monday September 18, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Dale officiating.
     The family will receive friends Sunday September 17, 2006 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM at the Miller & Miller Funeral Home.

Barney Stephens, 1933 - 2006

     Barney Stephens, 73, of Broken Bow, passed away September 14, 2006 at his residence. He was born March 4, 1933, in Longview, TX, the son of Johnny and Mary (Howeth) Stephens.
     Barney was a veteran who served our country in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Theresa Allen on September 3, 1955 in Palm City, CA. Barney enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and liked to sing and play the guitar. He loved to spend time with his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Broken Bow.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Zoma Payne, Era Faye Bell, Ann Coffman, and Shirley Tucker; and brother, Johnie E. Stephens.

Bernice Stover, 1917 - 2006

     Bernice Stover, 88, of Broken Bow, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Idabel. She was born November 29, 1917 in Holly Creek, Ok to Havis and Flora Batchelor. She married Eugene Stover on September 19, 1953 at Reno, NV.
     Bernice was a homemaker. She was a member of the Thurston Baptist Church in Springfield, OR.
     She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.

Charles “Poke” McDaniel, 1934 - 2006

     Charles “Poke” McDaniel, 72, of Broken Bow, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Broken Bow. He was born February 16, 1934 in the Sherwood Community, the son of Jim and Verdie Williams McDaniel.
     Charles was a retired oil field worker and was a lifetime resident of McCurtain County.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Floyd McDaniel, Bill McDaniel, Cecil McDaniel, and Bert J. McDaniel; sisters, Faye McDaniel and Inez Coleman.
     Charles is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Archie and Joyce McDaniel of Broken Bow, Jimmy and Judy McDaniel of Zafra, Larry McDaniel of Georgia, Garry and Ruth McDaniel of Garvin, and Jerry and Cora McDaniel of Millerton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Willie and Donnie Hudson of Wynnewood, and Pauline and Bill Griffin of Garvin; a sister-in-law, Billie McDaniel of Valliant; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

     Robert was a veteran who served our country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and bee keeping. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Edna (Bond) Grigsby; sister, Virginia Grigsby; and brothers, Donald Grigsby and Louis Grigsby.

Arthur Lee Rush, 1921 - 2006

     Arthur Lee Rush, 84, Livingston, TX passed away September 11, 2006 at Livingston. He was born October 1, 1921 at Provo, AR., the son of John and Alice Hardin Rush.
     Arthur was a World War II Veteran and a retired welder. He loved all outdoor sports, traveling and was an accomplished ballroom dancer.
     He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Hardin; his father, John Thomas Rush; one sister, Ida McIntyre; four brothers, Cecil Willis, Mart Willis, Clarence Willis and Lewis Willis.
     He leaves to cherish his memory one brother, Johnny Rush of Brownfield, TX; one sister, Marie Bivings of Idabel; special friends, Oleta Rush of Fresno, CA, David Lopez and Murphy Bounds both of Livingston, TX, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Kylan Reese Golston

     Kylan Reese Golston, the newborn son of Kimberly Renee Bee and Kenny Racara Deshawn Golston, died September 10, 2006, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel. He was born September 10, 2006.
     He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Willie Earl Bee; maternal great-grandparents, Leroy and Mable Richard and paternal great-grandfather, Luther Golston.
     Kylan Reese is survived by his parents; Kenny Golston and Kimberly Bee, Idabel; maternal grandparents, James and Patricia Jackson; paternal grandmother, Chandra Townsend; paternal grandfather, Ray Golston; paternal great-grandmother, Alma Faye Townsend; and paternal great-great-great-grandmother, Gertie Mae Davis all of Idabel; several aunts, uncles and a host of cousins.
     Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Williamston Cemetery, Idabel with Rev. A. W. Gulley officiating.

Ethel Lemmons, 1922 - 2006

     Ethel Lemmons, 83, of Wright City, passed away September 10, 2006 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. She was born December 10, 1922, in Cerrogordo, OK the daughter of Elijah and Thelma (Tapley) McGough.
     Ethel was a founder and member of Greens Chapel Assembly of God Church, Herndon Community. She loved attending church, and she enjoyed fishing, hunting, picking apples and sitting under her apple tree. Ethel loved the special times spent with her family.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Lemmons; and son, Johnny Victory.

     Eldon “Duke” Brauser, 83, of Broken Bow, passed away September 10, 2006 at his residence. He was born August 6, 1923, in Drummond, OK the son of Oscar and Lillie (Beyer) Brauser.
     Duke married Mima Ozella Morris on March 18, 1991. He loved music and playing the harmonica. He loved to build, and to collect trains and other toys. He also oil painted landscape pictures. Duke enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Broken Bow.
     He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Welch, who passed away Friday, September 8, 2006. Her services will be held Friday, September 15, 2006 in Washington State. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Blossom Fitzpatrick.
     Duke leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ozella Brauser, of the home; children, Garry Brauser, Wichita, KS, Thay Hall, Hochatown, Carolyn Munsell, Ft. Scott, KS, and Dan Brauser, Irving, TX; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and also survived by Ozella’s children, Royce Meek, Broken Bow, Meredith Smith, Conway, AR, Dian Graham, Cooksville, TX, and Monty Meek, Broken Bow; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; brothers, Olin Brauser, Edmond, OK, Stanley Brauser, Yukon, OK, and Bradley Brauser, Oklahoma City; and a host of friends.
     Services will be 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at First Assembly of God Church, Broken Bow. Rev. LaRoi Wood and Rev. Tim Wood will officiate. Interment will follow at Hochatown Cemetery.

Audrey Jackson, 1948 - 2006

     Audrey Jackson, 57, of Tom passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2006 in Texarkana, TX. She was born November 4, 1948 in Tom, OK the daughter of Callie and Hughes Wright. On January 1, 1988 she married Thomas “Tommy” Jackson.
     Audrey enjoyed many hobbies throughout her lifetime. She loved fishing, growing flowers, traveling, arts and crafts, and especially making candles. She lived her entire life in Tom and was of the Baptist faith.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Arnold Wright and Clyde Wright.
     She is survived by her husband, Tommy Jackson; son, Johnny Spears of DeQueen, AR; daughters and son-in-law, Stacy and Mark Heath of Tom and Wendy Schoonover of Terrell, OK; brother, Barney Wright of Lincoln, CA; 4 grandchildren, Brent Heath, Blake Heath, Robert Schoonover and Ty Schoonover; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
     Services will be Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Tom, OK. Interment will follow in the Tom Cemetery with Bro. Miles Wesner officiating.
     The family will receive friends on Friday, September 8, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Helen Louise (Canter) Estep, 1934 - 2006

     Helen Louise (Canter) Estep, 72, of Broken Bow, passed away September 9, 2006 at her residence. She was born April 5, 1934, in Columbus, OH, to Amos and Olive Bonita (Wilson) Canter.
     Helen was a member of the Church Of God and a pastor’s wife for many years. She enjoyed traveling, and shopping. Helen and her husband of 54 years, A.C., were united in marriage on March 29, 1952 in Lancaster, OH. Helen loved spending time with her family.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Olive Canter; son, Robert Michael Estep; four brothers; and two sisters.
     Helen leaves to cherish her memory her husband A.C., of the home; sons, Jim Estep and wife Tajuana, Bryant, AR, and Bill Estep and wife Katrina, of Mt. Loretta “Bubbles” Roath, 1937 - 2006

     Loretta “Bubbles” Roath, 69, of Broken Bow, passed away Thursday, Septemter 7, 2006 at Texarkana. She was born April 6, 1937 to Ellis Alfred and Margaret Sarah Moore Roath.
     Loretta was a factory worker. She was a devoted born again Christian who planted many seeds, inspired many people and touched many hearts. She loved to read her Bible and sew. She enjoyed talking on the phone to her family.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Delinda Darlene Edwards Gay; sister, Ima Jean Martz; brothers, Alfred Elroy Roath, Billy Gene Roath, Joe Carol Roath and Steven Philliph Roath.

Omer Ross, 1923 - 2006

     Omer Ross, 82, of Idabel, died Thursday, August 31, 2006, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. He was born September 25, 1923 in Ripley, TN, the son of William and Virgie (Childress) Ross.
     Omer was affiliated with the Baptist faith. He moved to Idabel 46 years ago from Hayti, MO. He enjoyed playing dominoes, cooking bar-b-que, fishing, and gardening. Omer loved spending time with his family and friends.
     Omer was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Ross; parents, William and Virgie Ross; in-laws, D. W. “Pocket” and Pearl Self; four sisters; one brother; one daughter, Delores Montgomery; son-in-law, Mark Mathews; one great-grandchild, Shelby Minyard Burris.
     Omer leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Virginia Denison and husband Hoppy, Idabel, Debbie Minyard and husband Orval, Valliant, Pam Johnson and husband Bruce, Idabel; three brothers, Pete Groves and wife Orea, Osceola, AR, Jim Ross, Ripley, TN, Robert Ross and wife Donna, Garvin; one sister, Dorothy Austin, Blythesville, AR; ten grandchildren, Thomas Montgomery, Michael Montgomery, Gina Ballard, Christy Eyring, Charity Bussell, Angel Burris, Kari Moye, Jason Mathews, Lee Ellis, Stacie Johnson; thirteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Hiram Miller, 1924 - 2006

     Hiram Miller, 81, of Broken Bow, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2006 at his residence. He was born October 8, 1924, in Dierks, AR, the son of Thomas and Willie (Arnold) Miller.
     Hiram liked to hunt and fish, and he was one of the last few survivors of the Beavers Bend CCC Camp. Hiram enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was affiliated with the Baptist faith.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Willie Miller; and infant son, Terry Miller.
     Hiram leaves to cherish his memory his children, Junior Miller, Union Grove, OK, Wesley Miller, Stigler, OK, Mike Miller, Broken Bow, Ed Miller, Hochatown, Loretta McCoy, Ada, Gail Griffith, Ardmore, LaDonna Westbrook, Broken Bow, Jerry Crawford, Porter, OK, Angel Miller, Lone Grove, OK, and Patricia Bittel, Brittan, OK; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Birdie Farris, 1911 - 2006

     Birdie Farris, 95, of Broken Bow, passed away Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at Broken Bow Nursing Home. She was born May 7, 1911, in Neshoba, OK, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Riley) Hammer.
     The family moved to Ludlow, OK, where Birdie spent her young adult life. Later, she lived in south Texas in the Rio Grande Valley. She and Henry Farris were married in Edinburg, TX on January 9, 1935. They moved back to Ludlow in the early forties. After Henry retired from road maintenance work, he and Birdie operated the Ludlow General Store for a few years.
     She and her husband were very active in the church, both helping build the church building in Ludlow. Later moving to Broken Bow, they were active members of the First Christian Church, until her health failed. Henry passed away in 1990.
     Birdie loved to read her bible, loved music and played the guitar in her youth, liked to crochet, work with flowers, and loved to cook.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Hammer; husband Henry Farris; five brothers, Leonard, Eldon, Irl, L. J., and Sam; and one sister, Edith Fisher.
     Birdie leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Debs Hammer and wife Ann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2006 at Little River Christ Church, Ludlow, OK, with Pastor Leroy Williams and Mark Hammer officiating. Interment will follow at Ludlow Cemetery.
     The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at Brumley Funeral Home, Broken Bow.
