Raymond Boswell, 1934 - 2006

     Raymond Boswell, 71, of Broken Bow, passed away Thursday March 29, 2006. Raymond was born November 16, 1934 in Tuttle, Oklahoma to George and Clara Boswell. He moved to McCurtain County in 1985. Raymond loved people and wood working.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ezra Boswell and Clifford Boswell, and sister, Meria. He is survived by 2 sons Dallas Boswell, and David Boswell; 1 daughter, Tonya Henson; 6 brothers; Daymon Boswell, Christo Boswell, Melvin Boswell, Jerry Boswell, Troy Boswell, and Albert Boswell; 1 sister, Jessie; 8 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.
     Graveside services will be 11:00 Saturday afternoon April 1, 2006 at Denison Cemetery with Brother Kent House presiding.

Bob Bray, 1928 - 2006

     Bob Bray, 76, of Broken Bow, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2006, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital, Idabel. He was born October 26, 1928 in Broken Bow to George and Elma Mae (Wood) Bray.
     Bob was united in marriage on October 21, 1947 to Margaret Hughes in DeQueen, AR. He liked to fish, hunt, garden, and work with horses. Bob loved spending time with his family and friends. He was affiliated with the Baptist Faith.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mae Bray; and brothers, Snow Bray and Jack Bray.
     Bob leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Margaret Bray, of the home; eight children and their spouses, Pat and E.L. Mitchell, Broken Bow, Terry and Cletis Glasson, Valliant, Charly and Martha Bray, Mike and Brenda Bray, Teresa and Don Wilkie, Les and Brenda Bray, Rick and Pam Bray, and Kim and Dean Harris, all of Broken Bow; sister, Eloise Hardin and husband Ray, Broken Bow; sister-in-law JoAnn Bray, Broken Bow; brother and sister-in-laws, Archie and Donna Hughes, Aztec, NM, Shirley and Bob Johnson, McMinnville, OR, and Joyce and Verdo Ligon, Riseburg, OR; twenty grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend Ray Lacky; and a host of many other friends.
     Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 3, 2006 at Lukfata Baptist Church, Lukfata, OK. Interment will follow at Holly Creek Cemetery, Holly Creek Community. Rev. Tommy McCaig will officiate.

Martha Holman, 1922 - 2006

     Martha Holman, age 83 passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006 at Broken Bow. She was born on December 12, 1922 in Foreman, Arkansas. Martha was raised in Foreman, Arkansas and attended college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She married Mayo Holman on July 30, 1944 in Foreman, Arkansas.
     Martha began teaching at the age of 19 and taught in Idabel, Broken Bow, and Eagletown. She was a former McCurtain County Teacher of the Year. Martha was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow. She was a past President of the Federated Women’s Club, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Delphian Study Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, Historical Society, and was a supporter of the Broken Bow Library.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Harriette Dove Freeman; and her husband, Mayo Homan on January 13, 2004.
     Martha is survived by her daughter, Ann Holman Terrill; grandsons, Arthur Clark Terrill IV, and Richard Mayo Terrill; great-grandsons, Teddy Terrill and Tommy Terrill; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Ruth Holman, and Rosalyn Holman; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
     Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow with Rev. Joyce Ludwig officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
     The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 2, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
     In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Martha’s honor to the Broken Bow Library or the First Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow.

Buell Hunter, 1920 - 2006

     Buell Hunter, 85, formerly of Bethel, OK passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Norman Regional Hospital, Norman, OK. He was born October 5, 1920 in Umpire, AR to Roy Hunter and Josie (Manasco) Hunter.
     Buell moved to Bethel from Umpire, AR in 1935. He resided in the Norman area for the last two and a half years. Buell was a farmer and rancher who loved the outdoors and enjoyed working with his animals. He served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army and was highly decorated.
     He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Josie Hunter; sisters Beulah J. Hunter and Neoma Jean Hunter; and nephew Wesley Dean Eades.
     Buell leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Wanda H. Eades, Oklahoma City; nieces, Janice M. Lee and LeWanna J. Koprucu; great-nephews, Konrad W. Koprucu and Sean Allen Loftis; and great-great-niece, Nicolette M. Loftis.
     Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006 at Battiest Baptist Church, Battiest, OK. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Bethel. Rev. Mike Crawford will officiate.

Austin Jones, 1938 - 2006

     Austin C. Jones, 67, of Broken Bow, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at Baptist Hospital, Oklahoma City. He was born July 20, 1938 in Lawton, OK to Louis and Mattie Vandiver Jones.
     Austin was a member of Pleasant Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Geary, OK. He served our country in the United States Marine Corp and was a Vietnam Veteran. Austin loved gospel singing and sang most of his life. He started singing with Isaac Battiest and the Gospel Harmonaires Battiest Family, and last sang with The Singing Ambassadors of Clinton, OK. He also enjoyed singing in other churches and fishing.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Jones; his parents, Lewis and Mattie Vandiver Jones; one brother, Gilbert Jones; two sisters, Josephine Noon and Mae Jackson; one brother-in-law, Ivan Lewis; one step-grandson, Jeremy Pate.
     Austin leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Mary Lewis, Broken Bow; two step-daughters, Patti Evans and husband Terry, Broken Bow; and Anita Smith and husband Jim, Poteau, OK; one step-grandson, Chad Pate, Norman, OK, special friend, Nina Wilhoit; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Robert R. Biles, 1924 - 2006

     Robert Biles, 82, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at a Paris, Texas hospital. He was born January 28, 1924, in Maysville, Oklahoma to Ebenezer Lafayette and Mary Gussie Lynn Biles.
     Robert had been a resident of the Maysville area for most of his life. He attended Maysville schools. On May 25, 1944, he married Maxine Narramore in Maysville. Robert was an expert welder working in the oilfield mostly as an independent contractor. Robert and Maxine had a farm southwest of Maysville for many years. He loved to hunt and fish and made many trips in state and out of state to hunt pheasant. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville and served as a Deacon and held many other offices of responsibility in the Church and taught the Men's Bible Class for many years. He enjoyed his many friends through work and Church. He will be missed by the community.
     Robert is survived by his wife Maxine Biles of Idabel; his son Ron Biles and his wife Bonnie of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and 1 daughter Marilyn Johnson and her husband Fred of Edmond, Oklahoma; 8 grandchildren: Shane, Troy, Rusty, Meagan, Joe, Stephanie, Aaron and Matt; 12 great-grandchildren: Riley, Tristen, Hannah Paige, Sam, Pepper, Jennifer, Andrew, Michael, Royce, Riley, Rainmund, and Madelyn.
     Robert is preceeded in death by 1 daughter, Roberta Gibson and by brothers L.D., Orice, Roy and Marvin and by sisters Velma, Leva, Clara, Willie, Essie and Verna Lee.
     Funeral services will be held Friday, March 31, 2006 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, at 2:00 pm., with Rev. Dave Kelly and Rev. Chuck Shilling officiating. Interment will follow immediately in the Maysville cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville.

George Garrett Jr., 1957 - 2006

     George “Gary” Garrett, Jr., 48, of Broken Bow, passed away March 25, 2006 at his residence. He was born July 2, 1957, the son of George Garrett, Sr. and Vonnie (Guest) Garrett.
     Gary married Barbara Clayborn on November 19, 2004. He liked to fish and hunt, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, George Garrett, Sr. and Vonnie (Guest) Garrett; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Margie Claborn.

Henry Bolt, 1936 - 2006

     Henry “Lanny” Bolt, 69, of Broken Bow, passed away March 28, 2006 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. He was born October 19, 1936, the son of Lestel Leon and Velma Lee (Weeks) Bolt.
     Lanny and Patricia had been married 49 wonderful years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing country music with his guitar and played in several country bands. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
     He was preceded in death by his father, Lestel Leon Bolt and one sister Mary Roberts.

Debbie Robinson Miller, 1960 - 2006

     Debbie Robinson Miller, 46, Idabel passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006 in Idabel. She was born March 19, 1960 at Idabel, the daughter of Cleytus Donison McGough.
     Debbie was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of the community. She enjoyed camping, swimming, fishing and loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
     She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, John Miller Sr., Durant; mother and stepfather, Cleytus and Arlis McGough, Ardmore; one son, Johnny Miller Jr., DeQueen, AR.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela Sossamon, Oklahoma City, Jennifer and Jeff Day, Idabel and Cristy and Jeff Hill, Durant; three brothers, Johnny Robinson, Bentonville, AR., Faron Robinson and Micheal Robinson both of Ardmore; one sister, Kelena Story, Ardmore; seven grandchildren, Daniel and Dusty Webster and Brittany Hankins all of Oklahoma City, Haley Clark, Savannah Day both of Idabel, Jeffery Hill and Kamdyn Hill both of Durant; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Ricky Allen Ferguson, 1950 - 2006

     Ricky Allen Ferguson, 55, of Pollard Community, passed away March 27, 2006 at his home. He was born May 28, 1950, the son of John and Jewel Ferguson. Ricky had lived in Pollard his entire lifetime. He was a member of Pollard Missionary Baptist Church.
     Ricky was preceded in death by his parents.

Isabelle “Cleo” (Maytubbi) Ludlow, 1953 - 2006

     Isabelle “Cleo” (Maytubbi) Ludlow, 52, of Broken Bow, passed away March 26, 2006 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, OK. She was born August 27, 1953, the daughter of John Quincy Maytubbi and Christie Belle (Lewis) Maytubbi.
     Cleo was a member of Okachukma Presbyterian Church in Broken Bow. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and friends, and going to gospel singings and pow-wows.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Christie Maytubbi; husband Rev. Joel Ludlow; and brother Quincy D. Maytubbi.

Johnny D. Hurst, 1926 - 2006

     Johnny D. Hurst, 79, passed away Friday, March 24, 2006 at his home in Tom, Oklahoma. He was born September, 27, 1926 in Dekalb, Texas, the son of Jessie and Mary Hurst. He had lived in Tom since 1955.
     He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Ivolene Hurst.
     He is survived by Sons and Daughters-in-law Paul and Della Spears of DeQueen, Arkansas, and Jimmy and Rebecca Hurst of Tom, Oklahoma; Daughters and sons-in-law Hester and Kenneth Murray of Tom, Oklahoma; Floetta and J.D. Ledbetter of Idabel, Oklahoma; Teresa and Kenneth Green of Lockesburg, Arkansas; Letha Reeves of Idabel, Oklahoma; Brothers Horace Hurst of Tom, Oklahoma; Special Nephew Ray Cummings; 13 Grandchildren and 16 Great-Grandchildren.

Gibbons Birmingham Moore, 1915 - 2006

     Gibbons Birmingham "G.B." Moore died peacefully on March 24 at age 91 in Sacramento, California. He was born June 15, 1915 in Valliant, Oklahoma.
     G.B. served in the United States Navy during World War II, and graduated from Oklahoma A.& M (OSU), studying Animal Husbandry. He married Fern Augusta Moyer in 1941, had three children, and farmed for a short time near Seminole, OK. In 1956 the family moved to California, where he joined the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service, working in the Madera, Visalia, and Bakersfield offices until his retirement in 1983. He spent his final years experimenting with natural garden pest control methods. He is remembered for his love of animals and farming, his skill with a hunting rifle, and his earthy proverbs such as "the pig that squeals the loudest gets the slop," and "you don¹t get credit for not scratching if you don't itch."
     He was preceded in death by his wife in 1983.
     He is survived by his two sons, Bill Moore of Denver, Colorado, David Moore, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, his daughter, Melinda Rivasplata of Sacramento, a grandson, three grand daughters, a great grand daughter, his sister, Martha Goubeaux of Santa Barbara, Calfornia, and nephew, Max Farley, of Idabel.

Lillie Mae Wimbley, 1915 - 2006

     Lillie Mae Wimbley “Black Gal”, 90, of Broken Bow, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2006 at her residence. She was born August 27, 1915, in Ft. Towson, OK, the daughter of Jeff and Rena Gray.
     Lillie Mae was a member of St. John Baptist Church, Broken Bow. She was a missionary, loved cooking, flower gardening, fishing, and going to church. She lived in this area all of her life.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Martha Burris, and Lillie Mae Akins; two brothers Joe Gray and Cleveland Gray; and step-daughter Carolyn Richards.
     Lillie Mae leaves to cherish her memory her husband Larkin Wimbley, of the home; stepchildren Cathy Richards, Idabel, Larkin Wimbley Jr., Idabel, and Wayne Richards, Lawton, OK; three brothers-in-law Floyd Wimbley and wife Rose, Eagletown, Fred Wimbley, Idabel, and J.C. Wimbley, Pheonix, AZ; five nieces, Earlene Wilson and Dorothy Burris, Broken Bow, Ola May Walker and Janetta Bivens, Oklahoma City, and Mazetta Bivens, Kansas City; five nephews, Cornell Burris and wife Linda, Idabel, Rosevelt Walker and wife Donna, Bristow, OK, Wilbert Walker and Alfonzo Walker, Kansas City, KS, and Jim Bivens, MN; special friend Mabel Cooper, Broken Bow; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.

Cecile Loretta Johnson, 1939 - 2006

     Cecile Loretta Johnson, age 66, passed away today, Thursday, March 23, 2006 in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born May 23, 1939 in Hugo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jessie Morris and Laura Alice (Simmons) Robinson.
     Cecile was a member of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Arkansas. She worked for Tyson Foods in Broken Bow, Oklahoma for 25 years. She was a very caring and loving person who would do anything for anyone. She loved to read and really enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
     She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Randy Johnson.
     Cecile leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters, Sharon Moore, Broken Bow, and Lisa Weaver and husband, Bryan, Jacksonville, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Trina Moore Fulton, Tina Zellars, Bradley Moore, and Kirby Weaver; five great-grandchildren, Kaly Fulton, Ashley Fulton, Antwun Zellars, Amerika Zellars, and Amber Zellars; and a host of friends.

Delma Louis Wallace, 1925 - 2006

     Delma Louis Wallace, 80, of Broken Bow, passed away Monday, March 20, 2006, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center, Sherman TX. He was born June 9, 1925 in Broken Bow, OK to Theodore William Wallace and Hattie Pearl (Kinard) Wallace.
     Delma was a Volunteer Fireman for 30 years and enjoyed working in his yard, growing tomatoes, and taking care of his martins and blue birds. He was a member of 1st Assembly of God in Broken Bow. Delma served our country in the Navy during WWII, and was a member of the crew that loaded the atomic bomb on the aircraft that released the bomb over Hiroshima.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, T. W. and Hattie Wallace; wife, Opal Wallace; one brother, Billy Wallace; three sisters, Arlene Hannah, Audell Anderson, and Doris Alcorn.
     Delma leaves to cherish his memory two daughters Kathy Vickrey and husband Roy, Sherman, TX, and Tammy Carter, Plano, TX; one brother, Choc Wallace, Broken Bow; one sister, Sue Harrison, Mesquite, TX; three grandchildren, Krystal Vera, Heather Outlaw, and John Carter; three great-grandchildren, Bryson Wallace Vera, Kambryn Vera, and Riley Grace Outlaw, and a host of friends.

Naomia Foster, 1930 - 2006

     Naomia A. Foster, 75, of Hochatown, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at her home. She was born September 27, 1930 in Calvin, OK to Lon Robertson and Clara Estes Robertson Terry. Naomia and Carl M. Foster were united in marriage on September 8, 1956, in Durant, OK.
     Naomia was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church who loved spending time with her family and friends. In the 1970’s she worked as a night audit for the Holiday Inn of Idabel, and in the 1980’s she was manager of Broken Bow Inn.

Richard Moyer, 1915 - 2006

     Richard C. Moyer, 90, of Valliant, passed away Friday, March 17, 2006 at Idabel. He was born September 11, 1915.
     Richard worked in construction for Weyerhaeuser. He was a member of the Valliant Masonic Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church of Valliant.
     He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eunice in 2000; and a nephew, Wayne Moyer in 2002.
     Richard is survived by a step-son, Wayne Hannock of Coeur D Alene, Idaho; and a nephew Ives Moyer of Idabel, OK; Several Nieces, Nephews, many relatives and a host of friends.
     Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Valliant with Rev. Mike Mings officiating. Interment will follow in the Valliant Cemetery.

Elmo Sanders, 1926 - 2006

     Elmo Sanders passed away March 11, 2006 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital. He was born April 26, 1926 to the late Luler Mae Sanders. He was the second born of twelve children.
     He received his high school education at Slater High School, Idabel. He started his fellowship with Jesus Christ and served as a Deacon for many years. He continued serving Christ until his homegoing.
     Elmo spent his early working years in Bakersfield, Calif. and after returning to Idabel, he worked at Tyson Foods until his retirement.
     Elmo enjoyed his hobbies of working with his cows and driving his truck. He was a generous person and very soft spoken. One day his sister asked him if he could speak louder, and he replied, “I don’t see any need to speak louder”, and he continued to speak in a soft voice. Elmo’s spirit will live on within the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
     Elmo was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Raymond Sanders and Terry Sanders, and three sisters, Erma Taffe, Gladys Perry and Johnnie Kennybrew.
     He is survived by two brothers, Adolph Sanders (Mary), Oklahoma City, and James Sanders (Jamie), Milwaukee, Wis.; four sisters, Loretta Hill, San Diego, Calif., Jimmye Blair (Herbert) and Laura Thomas (Troy), both of Oklahoma City, and Essie Richard, Reno, Nev.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
     Services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Spring Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Allen Gully officiating. Burial was in Williamston Cemetery, Idabel.
     Services were under the direction of Nunley’s Funeral Home.

John Albert Dobson, 1929 - 2006

     John Albert Dobson, 76, of Idabel, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at his residence in Idabel. He was born April 25, 1929 in Coffeyville, KS to James Albert Dobson and Lillie Bell (Matthews) Dobson.
     John moved to Idabel in July 2005 from Tulsa. He married Janice Shockley in Tulsa and they devotedly renewed their vows every year. He liked bowling, reading, surfing the internet, hunting and fishing, and was a history buff. He loved to work on and build cars, and when he needed to relax, the open road was his getaway. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Tulsa.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert and Lillie Bell Dobson; and brother Paul Albert Dobson.
     John leaves to cherish his memory his wife Janice Dobson, of the home; sons Johnny Albert Dobson II, Colorado Springs, CO, and Johnny Dale Dobson, Broken Bow; daughters Helen Kay Younger, Tulsa, and Marsha Ann Ganem, Long Beach, CA; step-daughter Rhonda Birdsong, Carthage, TX; brothers David Dobson, Coffeyville, KS, and Jesse Dobson, Vista, CA; sister Mary Ellen Bruno, Sun City West, AZ; fourteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
     Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 17, 2006 at Brumley Funeral Home Chapel, Broken Bow. Interment will follow at Watson Memorial Cemetery, Oak Hill Community. Rev. A.L. Chief Phillips will officiate.

Audra Summers, 1926 - 2006

     Audra Mae “Granny Bo” Summers, 79, of Idabel, went to meet her Lord on Monday, March 13, 2006 at her residence. She was born August 18, 1926 in Blytheville, Arkansas, the daughter of D.W. “Pocket’ and Pearl (Goff) Self. Audra Self and Willard Summers were united in marriage on April 18, 1942 in Blytheville, Arkansas.
     Audra and her family moved to Idabel in 1959 from Arkansas. She was a cook at Oak Grove Manor for over 14 years. Audra loved to cook and have her family around her.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 46 years, Willard Summers; a sister Margie Ross and 2 infant sisters.
     Audra leaves to cherish her memory, daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Calvin Bivings of College Grove, Tennessee, Helen and Rick Allen of Millerton, Darlene and Billy Sharp of Idabel, and Christina Stigall of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Brenda Summers of Hawkins, Texas, and Eddie Wayne and Tracy Coffman of Ponca City, Oklahoma; sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris House of California, Eupha and Gene Nolan of Idabel, Melba and Lawrence Jackson of Idabel, and Linda and Marion Dale Capps of Garvin; a sister-in-law, Jennie Yoakum of Benton, Arkansas; an aunt, Martha Goff of Blytheville, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

     Ceamon Goss Sr., 67, Idabel, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 at McCurtain Memorial Hospital, Idabel, OK. He was born June 29, 1938 at Tyler, TX, the son of Henry and Susie Goss.
     Ceamon was a retired machinist, Sr. Deacon of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church and was a resident of McCurtain County for 17 years moving here from Oakland, CA. He loved fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Susie Goss, one sister, Era McKellar, four brothers, Will Henry Goss, Earl Goss, Johnnie L. Goss and Eugene J. Goss.

     Maudie Lee Hendon, 92, of Broken Bow, passed away March 10, 2006 at Broken Bow Nursing Home. She was born November 18, 1913, in DeQueen, AR.
     Maudie was a member of Eagletown United Methodist Church and lived in Eagletown all her life. She enjoyed fishing, and spending time with her grandchildren and family.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Krutcher Hendon; father and mother, Jim and Hollie McCoy; one son, Kenneth Hendon; and one daughter-in-law, Carma Nell Hendon.
     Maudie leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Odell Hendon, Eagletown, OK, and Mack Hendon and wife Denna, Durant, OK; seven grandchildren, Kent Hendon and wife Lanette, Broken Bow, OK, Kay Singleton and husband Rick, Ft. Juanita McNeil, 1921 - 2006

     Juanita McNeil, age 84, of Idabel, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 at her home. She was born April 7, 1921 at Idabel, the daughter of William Dewey and Jessie Goodwin Dossey.
     Juanita was a homemaker. She very much enjoyed trout fishing with her husband. Juanita was a member of the By-Pass Church of Christ and had lived in McCurtain County most of her life.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, and 3 brothers, Herman Dossey, Ray Dossey, and Jimmy Dossey.
     Juanita is survived by her husband, Richard McNeil of the home; her sisters, Betty Jean Dollarhide of Noble, Elease Robberson of Houston, Texas, and Maxine Chaika of San Francisco, California; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
     Services will be on Saturday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. at the By-Pass Church of Christ with Jim Mashburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.

Eva Nell Smith, 1932 - 2006

     Eva Nell Smith, 73, of Broken Bow, passed away March 9, 2006 at McCurtain Manor Nursing Home. She was born October 24, 1932, in Avery, TX, the daughter of Andrew Jackson Stinson and Lora Poole Stinson.
     Raymond B. Smith and Eva Nell Stinson were united in marriage on October 6, 1951 in DeQueen, AR. Eva lived in Broken Bow for 70 years. She graduated as Valedictorian from Broken Bow High School in 1951. Eva was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Broken Bow. She loved her pets, and enjoyed singing in the church choir, crafts, reading books, gardening, family get-togethers, and playing with her grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson Stinson and Lora Poole Stinson, and one son, Raymond Dale Smith.
     Eva leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Raymond B. Smith, of the home; four sons, Larry Wayne Smith and wife Debbie of Durant, OK, Bill R. Smith of Coleman, OK, Jerry Don Smith and wife Carol of Broken Bow, OK, and Carl A. John Paul Gerhardt, 1928 - 2006

     John Paul Gerhardt, Sr., 77 formerly of Idabel, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on March 8, 2006 at Tomball, TX. He was born on May 14, 1928 at Holly Creek, OK to William and Mary Lance Gerhardt.
     After his days in the military of World War II, John moved, worked, and raised his family in the Houston area until settling in Livingston, Texas in 1972. John worked hard and started his own chainsaw business in the Livingston area called Timberlawn. This became a very well known business for all of the timber industry in the Polk County area for almost 25 years. John built his business on hard work and dedication to doing the job right the first time. He was honest and treated ALL of his customers with respect. John gave Timberlawn and his customers the majority of his time and energy until his health failed in 2000.
     John is survived by his sister, Leiva Nichols; son, John Paul Gerhardt, Jr.; daughters, Linda G. Van Bebber, and Brenda G. Salmon and her husband Tony; the mother of his children, Lorene Eads Taylor; grandchildren, Cole Gerhardt, Stefanie Van Bebber, Shannon Salmon, Jonathan Salmon, Britt G. Stone and her husband David; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Zachary Stone; brother and sister-in-law, James and Ann Barrick of Broken Bow, OK; sister-in-law, Ethel Harris, CA; and brother-in-law, Newman Hamil, Goodwater, OK.
     John was preceded in death by his father and mother, William and Mary Gerhardt; step mother, Myrtle Gerhardt; two brothers Lee and August Gerhardt; sister, Mary Glover; and wife, Marie Gerhardt.

Doyle Scroggins, 1920 - 2006

     Doyle Scroggins, 86 of the Harris Community passed away in Texarkana, TX on March 5, 2006. He was born January 28, 1920 in Grove, Oklahoma to William “Bill” and Irene Scroggins. He was of the Methodist Faith.
     Doyle was an airfield worker at D and Z ammunition plant (Lone Star) and was a retired rancher and farmer. He loved to garden.
     He was preceded in death by his father, William “Bill” Scroggins, his mother, Irene Austin Scroggins, sister, Arvilee Scroggins Corbell, brothers, Hershel “Buddy” Scroggins and Faye Scroggins.

     Dorothy Ruth Herndon, 84, of Houston, Texas, lovingly known as “Aunt Foot” to family and friends, died Sunday, March 5, 2006.
     Her survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Hernert and Susy Hendrix; nephew, Doug McLennan; grand nephews, Ryan and Dean McLennan; close family friends, Nini Arbib, and Norma Jones; and many other relatives and friends.
     Mrs. Herndon was born October 25, 1921, in Buckner, Arkansas to John Osey and Clara Inez Hendrix. She graduated with honors from Idabel Gray High School. Mrs. Herndon retired from Exxon U.S.A. as a Supervisor in Landowner Relations. She was a longtime and faithful member of Westminster United Methodist Church. Mrs. Herndon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 43 years, Quintus T. Herndon; sister and brother-in-law, Melba and Neal Stanley; and a niece, Elisa Hendrix McLennan.
     Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at the Westminster United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas with Rev. Robert E. Webb officiating.
     Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, at the Denison Cemetery in Idabel with Rev. Donna Dodson officiating.

     Sophia Emelia Jordan, 95, of Millerton, OK, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2006 in Millerton, OK. She was born June 20, 1910 in Hedrick, OK the daughter of Martin and Ora Lee (Scarbrough) Neher and had lived in the Millerton area for the past 19 years where she moved after living in Altus most of her life. She married Frank Jordan on December 23, 1928 in Tipton, OK. He preceded her in death 21 years to the day. Sophia loved going to church and singing “I’ll Fly Away” and “Just A Little Talk With Jesus”. She worked in the cotton fields as a bole puller then later worked for A & W Root Beer. She was a hard worker. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and 3 brothers; Martin Neher, Marcus Neher, Woodrow Neher.
     She is survived by 1 brother; Barney Neher of Lamar, MO, and 2 sisters; Beulah Mickel of Corinne, OK, and Vernice Neher of Pueblo, CO. along with numerous nieces and nephews and friends
     Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006 in the Miller & Miller Funeral Home Chapel – Valliant, OK with Bro. Kenneth Wayne White and Sister Zelpha Boyd officiating.
     Interment will be in the Altus Cemetery – Altus, OK.

Joe DeWitt, 1932 - 2006

     Joe Dean “Slickhead” DeWitt, 74, of Ringold, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2006. He was born on March 5, 1932, 10 miles north of Wright City to Simon Wright and Mattie May DeWitt. Joe DeWitt and Freda Williamson were united in marriage on January 26, 1957 in Wright City. Joe served in the Army, worked for Dierks and after driving a log truck for 40 years, retired. Joe loved fishing with his kids on Glover River, hunting trips to Colorado and spending time with his best friend Freda of 49 years.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother; Jake DeWitt, 2 sisters; Mary Katherine Bailey, and Wilma Ussery.
     Joe leaves to cherish his memory his wife Freda of the home, 3 daughters; Carolyn and her husband Dewey Powers of Valliant, Doris and her husband Wade Snow of Farris, and Janie and her husband Casey Morris of Wright City, 5 sons; Larry and his wife Terry DeWitt of Wright City, David and his wife Janell DeWitt of Valliant, James and his wife Wendy DeWitt of Antlers, Jerry and his wife Michelle DeWitt of Wright City, John DeWitt of Overland Park, Kansas and his special little dog “Foxy Lady”; 1 sister; Helen Veteo and her husband Maurice of Waveland, MS, 1 brother-in-law Bud Williamson and his wife Jimmie of Wright City, 17 grandchildren, 4 great Grandchildren, and 1 grand dog Louie, numerous nieces and nephews along with a host of other friends and relatives.
     Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006 at the First Assembly of God – Wright City, OK with Bro. Mike Hamill, Bro. Gordon Manning and Pastor Sam Bates officiating.
     Interment will follow immediately at Slater Cemetery – Wright City, OK. Services are under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home – Valliant, OK

Robbin Renee Putman, 1962 - 2006

     Robbin Renee Putman, 43, of Hochatown passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006, at McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel. She was born July 12, 1962 in Auburn, CA.
     Robbin enjoyed reading, fishing and hunting. She loved spending time with her children, family and friends. Her granddaughter Avery was the apple of her eye.
     Robbin leaves to cherish her memory her husband; David Putman, of the home; three daughters and one son-in-law, Kenetha and Jon Alford, Gunter, TX, Amanda Putman, Leavenworth, KS, and Vanessa Putman, Hochatown; one granddaughter, Avery Vanee Alford; and a host of friends.
     Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March, 7 2006, at Hochatown cemetery, Hochatown. Her brother Gaylon Williams will officiate.

Wayne Scarberry, 1945 - 2006

     Nathaniel Wayne Scarberry, 60, of Pickens, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2006, at O. U. Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born May 16, 1945 in Nashoba, OK to Kermit Kenneth Scarberry and Rosa Lee Atteberry.
     Wayne was affiliated with Pickens Assembly of God. He loved fishing, hunting, sports, and riding around in the mountains.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Rosa Lee Scarberry; two bothers, Leon and Glennis Scarberry; and one sister, Dortha Eeds.
     Wayne leaves to cherish his memory one son, David Scarberry of Ringold, OK; two daughters, Marilyn Graham, Fredonia, KS, and Jeannie “Nett” Terry, Valliant, OK; two brothers, Leonard Scarberry and wife Sue, of Heavener, OK, and Kenneth “Mule” Scarberry and wife Ann, of Yukon, OK; three sisters, Wanda McDaniel and husband Henry, of Jacksonville, AR, Shirley Crawford and husband Granvil, of Battiest, OK, Sharon Lott and husband Mike, of Zafra, OK, nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Patsy Leonard, 1940 - 2006

     Patsy Leonard, 65, of Eagletown, passed away Friday, March 03, 2006. She was born May 21, 1940, in Eagletown, the daughter of Allen Williams and Eva Lee Hensley.
     Patsy Williams and James Leonard were united in marriage on May 21, 1957 in Idabel.
     Patsy was an honorary member of the Eagletown Fire Department. She enjoyed taking care of her cows and dogs. Patsy especially enjoyed helping people and spending time with her family friends.
     She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva Graham and Allen Williams; son, Jimmie Leonard; great-grandson, Carl James Leonard and sister, Peggy Williams.
     Patsy leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James “Shiny” Leonard, of the home; two children, Patrick Leonard and Suzette McBride, both of Eagletown; four brothers, Howard Williams, Bradley Graham and Michael Williams, all of Eagletown and Kenneth Williams, of Ada; two sisters, Sherry Nash, of Chetopa, KS and Janice Deder, of Lawton; ten grandchildren, Mark Hannah, Julie Short, Jessica McBride, Gracy Hadley, Jim Leonard, Chris Leonard, Brandi Leonard, Chase Leonard, Mathew Leonard, and Carlton Leonard; six great-grandchildren, C. J., Tyler, Klayton, Erin, Caleb and Baby Ashlei on the way; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Sallye Cannon, 1920 - 2006

     Sallye Lea Cannon, 86, of Paris, Texas passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2006 in Paris. She was born the daughter of William and Ruby Knox on February 24, 1920 in Guymon, Oklahoma.
     Sallye was a retired nurse. She enjoyed arts and crafts especially painting. Sallye was a member of the Lynn Lane Church of Christ and had lived in Paris for the last 8 years moving there from Idabel to be with her children.
     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin Cannon; a daughter, Carol Hanks; 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
     Sallye is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin G. and Jean Cannon of Universal City, Texas, and Steve and Charlotte Cannon of Paris, Texas; grandchildren, Stephen Cannon, Heather Cannon, Jo Nita Funkhouser, Debbie Phigpen, Brenda Lowe, Brandon Chaney and wife Lisa, Kevin Hanks, and Brent Hanks; great-grandchildren, Loren Phigpen, Lane Phigpen, Joshua Bonniewell, Jason Bonniewell, TJ Garris, Nicole Garris, Christopher Funkhouser, Adam Lowe, Arron Lowe, Andrew Lowe, and Melisa Lowe; a great-great-grandchild, Kole Neal Lowe.

Kimberly Dagenhart, 1964 - 2006

     Kimberly Jo Dagenhart, 41, of Millerton, OK, went home to be with the Lord, February 26, 2006 at Galveston, TX. She was born December 19, 1964 in Idabel, Ok, the daughter of Buddy and Mildred Stuart.
     Kimberly was of the Pentecostal faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed hunting, fishing and having fun with her family and friends.
     She was preceded in death by her brother, David Sherrell, and a nephew, Lynn Tyler.
     Kim leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Lacie La’Shawnica Rowan, Valliant and her son Gregory Kye Dagenhart, Millerton; one grandson, Gregory Shawn Rowan, Valliant; Her parents, Buddy and Mildred Stuart, Millerton, one brother, Larry Thompson, Valliant, and five sisters, Mary Carpenter, Tulsa, Lynda Tyler, Tulsa, Brenda Sherrell, Noble, Beverly Stuart, Valliant, and Tammy Prestridge, Bristow, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
     Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2006 at First Assembly of God, Wright City, OK with Bro. Tim Stuart, Scott Stuart, and Bro. Sam Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Valliant Cemetery, Valliant, OK.
     The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday March 2, 2006 at Wright City Assembly of God Church.
