God's Way
by John King
If you find yourself struggling
Each and every day,
Maybe - you should let go
And let God have his way.
If you're swimming against the current
And you never have time to play,
Just relax... and float downstream
And let God have his way.
If life is a battle
Just to get a little pay,
Why not give it up?
And let God have his way.
If you don't understand
What I'm trying to say,
I'll just change course
And put it another way.
Have you ever seen an eagle
Begging for food?
Or a lovely songbird
That was in a bad mood?
Have you ever seen a pigeon
That had a bad back?
Have you ever seen a goose
Have a heart attack?
Have you ever seen a peacock
That had "nothing to wear"?
A starving pelican?
Or a naked bear?
Have you ever seen a bluebird
That was hooked on dope?
Have you ever seen a squirrel
Checking his horoscope?
Have you ever seen an elephant
That was trying to lose weight?
Or a buzzard... with indigestion...
From something he ate?
Or a swan that needed a valium
Just to make it through the day?
Or a cow in the pasture
baling her own hay?
Have you ever seen a rabbit
That couldn't even walk?
Or a mynah bird
That didn't want to talk?
Have you ever seen a parrot
That was totally black?
Or a natural sea sponge
That had a big crack?
Did you ever hear of a turtle
That was worried about his age?
Did you ever see a flower
That was completely beige?
Did you ever watch a horse
While he grazed all day?
Do you think... that he knew?!
To let God have his way?
But wait! There's a "catch"!
There are RULES to obey!
BEFORE you can let go
And let God have his way.
It's like when your mom says
"Wash your hands for dinner".
God's not going to bless you
If you're a dirty sinner!
So obey God's rules
And things will be fine.
It's only then that He will say
"Come and dine." "Come and dine."
So if you've been following all the others,
You're going the wrong way!
Think about how wrong you've been
And let God have his way.
For broad is the highway
That leads to strife.
And narrow is the path
That leads to life.
Trust in others
And you will go astray
But you can be happy - really happy
If you let God have his way.
So run from Satan
That old heart breaker.
And come home to God,
Your friend and your maker.
You'll never be sad
And you'll never be blue,
'cause God only wants
Good things for you.
You can change your gloomy night
Into a glorious new day
If you will just let go
And let God have his way!
- Amen.
